So it seems as if I've fallen back into the familiar habit of livejournal neglect.  I'm so up and down with this thing.  On one hand, I love being able to let [info]intellectwon (the only person who reads my lj that I know in real life) know what is going on in my life.  On the other, "journals" are traditionally the place where you are supposed to be able to write about things that you wouldn't necessarily want to broadcast to the millions of people who have access to the internet.  I know, I could make this private or friends only, but I don't really see the point when I could just write it in a place than can't get hacked.  Also, lately I've been wondering why I bother spending time making friends on the internet when I could spend that time working on making real life friends, or fostering my existing real life relationships.  Basically, I am all for livejournal if it makes it easier for your real life friends to catch up on your life, or if it helps you hook up with people that you will eventually meet in real life, but in my opinion internet friendships just don't measure up to the real deal.  The internet is awesome in many ways, but it is also the breeding ground for lies, drama, skankiness, and fakness...

Kath, let's start e-mailing instead, mmkay?

LJ, I bid you adieu.

This is one of the most impressive things I've ever seen. Thanks for finding it, Chris!

This took up way too much time, so only attempt if you are a bored insomniac on a Sunday night.

I don't care if you don't like seeing these internet quizzes on your friends page. I'm going to brag anyways.

On Wednesday my sister and I went to see Pilate in concert @ Zaphods... I wasn't too sure about the band since their only single (Into Your Hideout) was pretty lame. But it turns out that they just released a new cd that is a bajillion times better than their last one, AND Pilate is a bajillion million times better live than on their album. Gotta love concert halls that seat 200 people, too, as you get to be a groupie and buy the band a round afterwards. I would have pictures but my camera is afraid of the dark... although we did snatch the Jetsgo tag from their luggage. We're so lame, eh?

I took the wrong bus home that night (sixes can look like fives when you've had 10 drinks!), and ended up having to walk 4 km home at 2:30 in the morning. C'est tres fun!

Tonight is the first party of the "summer"!!

(I realize this post is teh suck, but I promise I will have a fun picture post soonish!)

HAPPY 22nd BIRTHDAY,
[info]intellectwon

I <3 U!!

4/8/06 05:32 pm

Every single day the couple living above us waits until they hear our shower running, and then they turn theirs on. It's a sick little game they have to keep themselves occupied. The water pressure in our building is pretty much crap, so whenever we're in the shower and they turn their shower on, it becomes impossible to get a constant temperature, and really difficult to wash the shampoo out of our hair. I might have to resort to bathing at 3am.

In other news, Globo Shoes hasn't been impressing me. You'd think that if they pay their employees minimum wage, they should probably give them some sort of incentive to stick around, right? Wrong. On my first day, they put me and another newbie into a room and forced us to read product knowledge and policy manuals... and they didn't come back for the entire shift. When I was leaving that night the manager stopped me to tell me that my shoe discount wasn't 50% off like he had told me, it was actually 30%. Thanks, but no thanks.

I got offered a job in the office at an upscale downtown restaurant that my sister hostesses at. They get top notch Canadian celebs there:

BELINDA STRONACH

JANN ARDEN

ALANIS' PARENTS (couldn't find a picture of them on teh internets...)

JACK LAYTON

AND TOM GREEN

Canada kicks ass.

4/4/06 08:24 pm - HELP!!

I start work at Globo Shoes tomorrow and I know nothing about shoes!!

Shit.

I have come to the conclusion that the apostrophe key is too close to the enter / return key.

OH, and happy birthday to meeeeeee!

3/28/06 12:50 pm

Today I went and bought Chris 2 pairs of new jeans, since all he owns are his work jeans, and sometimes it's nice to go out to a restaurant or party and wear *clean* clothes. I got him Levis because they were having a Tuesday only 40% off sale. Total was about $100, and I was thinking "Yea, $100 is a lot to spend on jeans when he'll only wear them maybe 4 times per month..."

Then I came home and found a random $90 cheque in the mail - any guilt about spending too much money on the pants just went out the window. Although I still think that I am going to reward myself and spend the $90 tomorrow (MY BIRTHDAY!!).

Tomorrow, Chris is taking me out for brunch to Zack's Diner, in my opinion the best restaurant in all of Ottawa. Then we're planning on walking around downtown and visiting the cats on parliament hill. Chris has no idea what to get me for my birthday (I told him it doesn't matter how much money he spends, or whether the presents are romantic, as long as he puts some thought into it... but the boy just can't grasp this concept), so he is either going to let me pick out something while we're shopping, or he is going to pay for my third (and probably last) tattoo. Later that evening we're meeting my fam for dinner at Lonestar, where I will proceed to drink a lot of alcohol!

I have accomplished next to nothing school-wise in the past week. I have a research paper due in 9 days, then 2 take home exams due on the 13th as well as an in class exam on the same day. I just can't seem to get my ass in gear! I got accepted to my new program (Major in crim, minor in psych), but they went and changed the course requirements on me, so I now have to cram 12 classes into 2 semesters. I can't wait to graduate!!!!!

Kathy, I think your package has arrived, but I was out when the mailman came, so now I have to wait until tomorrow to pick it up. I'm so excited!!!

3/27/06 10:34 pm - Ya, I'm a poser. Thanks [info]intellectwon!

3/21/06 11:10 pm - BIRTHDAY WISHLIST

So, its my 22nd birthday in one week, and although I don't expect to get ANY of this, I still like to dream and make "if only I had a couple grand to spend...." lists...

I only want what I can't have! )

3/17/06 09:19 am - I was tagged by [info]intellectwon!!!

Once you are tagged you *MUST* write a blog about your 6 weird habits/things as well as state this rule clearly. In the end, you need to choose the next six people to be tagged and list their names.

bad habit #1:
I don't just crack my knuckles, I crack pretty much every joint I possibly can!

bad habit #3:
Rather than exfoliate once a week to get all the dead skin off my face, I sometimes put electrical tape on my face and then peel it off so i can check out all the cool things that come out (you know, kind of like those Biore nost strips). I realize that this may be even worse than not exfoliating at all, but day-um it's fun!

bad habit #4:
I can't go to the washroom in my apartment (or anyone's place for that matter) without turning the water on full blast. I'm always paranoid that someone has their ear to the door. They never do (c'mon, who would REALLY want to listen to that?), but I can't seem to get over it.

bad habit #5:
Whenever I change, I can't bring myself to hang my clothes up or throw them in the laundry basket. They go right onto the floor, into a big messy pile. Then three days later, when I can't make it to my side of the bed without tripping, I have a spaz attack and start bitching about how messy the room is.

bad habit #6:
We lived with my mom's common law husband for about seven years. He was always bouncing his leg up and down, and at first we just made fun of him for doing it, but now my sister and I can't sit still. Whether we're at a restaurant, in class, watching tv... if one of our feet can touch the ground, we're going to be bouncing, and most likely annoying everyone sharing the same piece of furniture.

I tag:
Seeing as I was tagged by [info]intellectwon , and [info]scotty2naughty is the only other person on my friend's list, GUESS WHAT [info]scotty2naughty??

I really should work on my friend's list... who wants to be my LJ friend?

WHY did I have to choose to go to school in Ottawa, the city where you can't get a decent job that pays more that 2 cents an hour unless you are completely, 100% bilingual? So maybe I'm exaggerating a bit... but I've been searching for a job for the past month and haven't had as much as a bite. Its not as if I don't have job experience, and its not as if I don't have three years of university under my belt! I'm tryyyyying to find something that is at least somewhat related to criminology so that I don't graduate in one year with zero experience, but I guess I failed to realize that working in crim means working for the government, and working for the government means speaking French. Alright, I sound like such a whiner, sorry guys.

Anyway, it looks like I might be spending the summer away from here, in Southern Ontario, where I can *hopefully* land a job in an English speaking city.

I should really get on that homework, but not until I scratch this itch )

Small things amuse small minds

Possibly / probably / definitely an old meme, but I just discovered it, and its killing me that I can't get past 15 seconds!!!! *sigh* Below average for life.

EDIT: 15.297 SECONDSSSS!!!

Mmmm, gin and tonic.

Honestly, lately I will use ANY excuse to drink. Tonight, I am celebrating the completion of a novel that I should have read one month ago. Go me, go procrastination, go alcoholism!!!
